SUMMARY:Cú Roi Mac Daire
DESCRIPTION:This myth tells the story of Cú Roí Mac Dáire\, the great druid and hero of Munster\, who was unjustly refused his fair share of the spoils of a raid with the men of Ulster. To claim justice\, he stole away Cú Chulainn’s beloved Bláthnat and brought her to his enchanted fortress high on Caherconree\, the mountain that still bears his name. Like the druid himself\, the fortress had many faces\, spinning each night to reveal a different side and hide its vulnerable heart. \n\nOn 21 June\, Foinse will bring this ancient tale home to its birthplace — performing on the summit of Caherconree\, beside the ruins of Cú Roí’s legendary clifftop fortress. This special gathering will be a storytelling event with live music and drama\, immersing audiences in myth\, sound\, and performance at the very site where the tale was born. \nThe evening will also honour the Summer Solstice\, with a short ceremony marking the turning of the year and the deep mythic energies of the mountain. \nThis is a free\, ticketed event supported by Creative Ireland and Kerry County Council. Spaces are limited and pre‑booked tickets will be required.\nTicket release details to be announced.

SUMMARY:The Lost Voices - Performance for SHU
DESCRIPTION:The Lost Voices is Foinse’s newest re‑imagining of an ancient Irish tale—an odyssey of bloodlines\, betrayal and the long journey back to oneself. Following a silent child who becomes a reluctant king\, this myth pulses with druidic curses\, fierce mother‑love\, haunting lullabies and the deep wisdom of the land. \n\nFrom the shores of Corca Dhuibhne to the halls of Tara\, voices are taken\, broken\, buried—and finally reclaimed. Through physical theatre\, original music\, and Foinse’s signature weaving of Irish and English\, The Lost Voices explores how trauma echoes across generations\, how truth resurfaces no matter how deeply hidden\, and how healing begins when silence is broken. \nFestival Performance: Presented to Sacred Heart University Students completing their semester in Dingle. \nAbout Foinse & the experience: Foinse is a Corca Dhuibhne–based storytelling collective creating mythology‑driven theatre with live music. Their work blends movement\, bilingual text\, song and atmospheric soundscapes to reawaken Ireland’s oldest stories. Audiences can expect an immersive and enthralling experience\, where myth\, landscape and performance merge into one living\, breathing encounter.

SUMMARY:Myth Of Scáil
DESCRIPTION:Step into a mythic world where Irish mythology meets Indian devotion.\nThis live performance reimagines the celtic myth of Scàil and Cúchulainn at Annascaul Lake\, blending the raw emotional power of spoken word storytelling with the evocative soundscapes of Kirtan — a sacred Indian musical tradition that calls the soul home. \nKirtan\, known as a spiritual retelling through song\, invites the audience to slow down and reawaken their connection to the divine feminine. The music becomes a bridge — guiding listeners through inner landscapes of shadow and light\, much like the ancient tale itself.

Tabharfaidh ‘Foinse’ an lucht féachana isteach i sean áit draíochta atá fós linn. \nNot many warriors have ever got one over on the most lauded of warriors Cú Chulainn. But there was one giant and sorcerer who not only beat\, but buried Cú Chulainn to his armpits\, cut his luscious locks and smeared his head with dung. \nSo brutal was the humiliation Cú Roí Mac Daire laid upon the hero of Ulster that Cú Chulainn dared not show his face for a whole year. And perhaps Cú Roí had reason for the attack having been unjustly refused his share of the spoils of raids with the men of Ulster. The great druid and traveller did make off with the beautiful Blathnat daughter of Midir of Brí Léith and took her to his enchanted fortress high up on Caherconree the mountain that still bears his name. Like the sorcerer himself\, the castle fortress had many faces and each night the magic of Cú Roi would spin a different side to confuse and confound would be assailants. But secret plans made on Oíche Samhain would come to haunt Cu Roí and bring the Ulsterman to his door. \nPurchase Tickets
